New Crochet Trends for Home Decor
For 2025, home decor trends are leaning into bold, natural and textured objects. People are increasingly prioritizing eco-friendly materials, such as recycled and sustainable textiles. While natural fibers have existed for centuries, I’ve been seeing more and more recycled yarns being offered by the big yarn companies and I think we are going to see more of it.
Color Trends for Crochet
Color is also going to be huge in 2025. We are seeing a lot of color drenching in home decor where a single hue is used across walls, upholstery, accessories and even the ceiling is painted in the same color). This could mean crocheting a blanket in one bold color with a gorgeous texture to make it interesting.
The Pantone color of the year is Mocha Mousse. It’s a gorgeous rich brown color that makes you think of your favorite cup of coffee or a bite of decadent milk chocolate. This is a sophisticated, yet comforting color that I think we are going to see a lot of this coming year.
Soft Curved Shapes
Another trend is the emphasis on soft curved shapes. This makes me think of rounded pillows and other home decor objects like poufs, round baskets, table cloths, coasters. You could also make round wall hangings, or circular plant holders.
Maximalism
One shift that I am seeing in home decor is away from minimalism into maximalism.
I’m seeing a lot more home decor instagram accounts that lean into the Victorian era with deep moody wall paper or collections of oddities aligning their bookshelves.
I’m also seeing a lot of cottage themed homes with sweet accessories that give a nod to the past. This could incorporate doilies, lampshade covers, table runners and kitchen accessories just to name a few
Crochet Fashion for 2025
Trend forecasters are predicting that sustainability is going to continue to be huge in the fashion industry as well. This includes the continuation of “slow fashion,” upcycled pieces, and secondhand shopping.
Nostalgic Fashion
I’m also seeing a lot of nostalgia and throwbacks from the 90s and early 2000s in fashion. I see things that my daughters who are in their 20s wear and I’m like…I wore that back in 1994.
When we think about the Pantone color of the year Mocha Mousse, I remember that shades of brown were really “in” during the early and mid nineties. It’s also surprisingly a very flattering color on a lot of different skin tones.
Athleisure
Athleisure is still predicted to be a big trend for 2025 and crocheters could make sporty crop tops, water bottle holders, slouchy hats, crocheted headbands and leg warmers.
Granny Squares for 2025
The big question I have been wondering about is whether or not granny squares will still be a big trend in fashion for 2025. I believe the answer is yes. And here’s why.
They are nostalgic while at the same time being adaptable to new trends. You can make them in trendy colors and they are easy for beginners to make. They also promote sustainability because they are fantastic stash busters. They also embody that maximalist style that is so on trend.
Crochet Toy Trends for 2025
The toy industry is a really interesting area that I’m personally interested in as an amigurumi designer and maker.
STEM & STEAM Toys
STEM and STEAM toys are going to continue to play a big role for children into 2025. For example crocheters could make toys that show the solar system, astronauts, rockets, robots or even crochet puzzles.
Sensory Toys
Sensory Toys are also going to continue to be important into 2025 and crocheters could make dolls, animals or shapes that have a lot of texture or use very textured yarns to make toys for children with different abilities for sensory input.
Pop Culture Influence on Crochet
As always pop culture is going to play a big role when it comes to children’s toys. But this is one area that crocheters need to be very careful about.
Creating designs or selling finished toys based off of licensed characters can get you into big big trouble.
But on the flip side, big companies are contracting with crochet publishers to create those licensed characters. When you see a major publisher come out with a book of toys from a known franchise, it’s because they have a contract. I have a lot of these in my library like Friends, Harry Potter, Golden Girls and Pokemon just to name a few.

Crochet Toys to Spark Kids’ Creativity
I also think that toys that encourage kids to get off of electronic devices and screens are going to be very popular with parents.
So I think that play sets, like a tea set, a farm scene or trucks and heavy equipment could be fun things for kids to play with and can keep them off of technology.
I think that cottage style and fantasy crochet amigurumi projects are still going to be popular into 2025. I also think that we are going to continue to see chunky oversized toys as well as micro amigurumi toys.
Nostalgic Toys from the 90s
I also think that there are going to see toys that are nostalgic of the 90s and early 2000s like Tamagotchis or incorporating pixelated motifs.
My personal opinion is that we are going to see a lot more bright, bold amigurumi designs and less beige and muted tones.
Technology Based Crochet Projects
Technology continues to be a big part of our lives and will be into 2025.
I think we might see more crocheted wristband covers for fitness trackers or smartwatches that will add a handmade touch while also protecting the device.
I could also see crocheted VR headset covers. These would add personalization while also providing comfort for those who wear headsets.
If you’re like me, I get so tired of seeing all these cables from various electronic devices. I think we might see more crocheted cord covers or crochet holders or wraps for cables to keep them neat and tangle free.
I also think that with 3D printers becoming a lot more affordable we are going to see 3D printed crochet hooks and accessories that combine digital design with traditional crafting.
Health & Wellness Crochet
I believe that mental health is going to continue to be a big topic into 2025. I think it’s a really really good thing that we are talking about this a lot more openly than we did in the past.
With that growing emphasis on mental health, I believe that crochet will continue to be promoted as a mindfulness practice.
The wellness industry’s focus on stress-relieving hobbies will boost the popularity of crochet kits and simple, repetitive patterns designed to encourage relaxation. Craft retreats and workshops may also become part of the wellness experience.
I think that a focus on projects using fibers that feel good in your hands and contribute to a feeling of well being will be popular into 2025.
Crochet projects for self care might be popular in 2025:
- Weighted blankets
- Slippers
- Hot water bottle covers
- Eye masks
- Neck wraps
- Face scrubbies
Crochet Book Based Projects
I love that reading has become such a huge trend in the past few years and I think we are going to continue to see projects for books or based on books.
I think we will see more and more bookmark patterns, crocheted book covers, crocheted E-reader covers, AirPods case covers, book hangers, tote bags, just to name a few.
I also think that we will see more fan art projects like C2C graphgans of popular books. Plus amigurumi projects of characters from those books.
15 NEW CROCHET TRENDS for 2025!
In 2025, crochet will continue to evolve as a vibrant and meaningful craft, blending timeless techniques with modern influences.
Granny squares are set to take center stage again, proving their versatility and nostalgic charm. The Mocha Mousse color of the year will inspire earthy, warm palettes, perfectly complementing the rising demand for sustainable fibers and eco-conscious crafting.
We’ll see crochet embracing new horizons with STEM-inspired toys for kids, making learning playful and hands-on.
Book-based crochet projects will connect our love for storytelling with the joy of making, while the emphasis on crochet as a wellness practice will highlight its power to calm, heal, and connect.
With these exciting trends on the horizon, 2025 promises to be a year where crochet continues to inspire creativity, purpose, and connection.
