Crochet Blanket Patterns That Make You Say “Just One More Row”

There is something so satisfying about watching a blanket grow, one row at a time. These five patterns combine relaxing repeats, beautiful texture, and enough variety to make it hard to put your hook down.

1. Renewed Rhythms Blanket

Pattern designer: The Loophole Fox and Made by Gootie

If you love texture and variety, the Renewed Rhythms Blanket is worth a look! This crochet-along features seven textured stitch sections, including Berry Meadow, Crossed Paths, Bean Duo, and Woven Double Moss. Just as you settle into one stitch pattern, there is something new to try.

The designers used Lion Brand Pound of Love, an affordable acrylic yarn, and I think choosing a color palette would be half the fun.

2. Striped Ripple Blanket

Pattern designer: Amy Gunderson for Premier Yarns

I have always loved a traditional ripple blanket, especially one that lets me settle into a relaxing rhythm. This design primarily uses double and treble crochet stitches, so once you get comfortable with the repeat, you can enjoy watching those stripes grow.

It also uses Premier Colorfusion DK, a yarn I recently tested and absolutely loved. The beautiful color changes do so much of the work for you!

3. My Favourite Stripes

Pattern designer: Anita Gibney of Made by Anita

There is something almost hypnotic about crocheting granny stripes. Those little clusters of three double crochets make it easy to settle in and enjoy the process. Anita recommends Stylecraft Special DK, a yarn I have used for many blanket projects and love for its softness and enormous color selection.

Between the relaxing repeat and the anticipation of the next stripe, this is definitely a just-one-more-row project.

4. Easy Waffle Blanket

Pattern designer: Christine of Spotted Horse Design Co.

This free pattern has the kind of gorgeous texture that makes a blanket look especially cozy, but the waffle stitch repeat is surprisingly approachable. I love the soft colors Christine chose, too.

She used Lion Brand Hue + Me, a bulky weight 5 yarn, so this could be a satisfying project when you want to see progress fairly quickly. It is the perfect combination of interesting texture and relaxing crocheting.

5. Fall Into Place Mosaic Throw

Pattern designer: Hannah of HanJan Crochet

This autumn-inspired mosaic blanket is one I would love to try! It has eight different sections that you can mix, repeat, or leave out to create your own design. Hannah even offers a free blanket planner on her website.

Mosaic crochet is still on my list of techniques to learn, and I can imagine wanting to work just one more row to see the next part of the design appear. The sample uses Timeless Tones Anti-Pilling DK, another yarn I am eager to try.

Sometimes it is the colors that keep us crocheting! These four blankets show how changing a shade, arranging a motif, or revealing the next stripe can make a project almost impossible to put down.

6. Pivot Point Quilt

Pattern designer: Cornwall Crochet

I have such a soft spot for quilts, and this quilt-inspired crochet blanket immediately caught my eye. It uses half-and-half granny squares joined as you go—my favorite way to join squares! What makes this design so much fun is that changing the placement of the colors can completely transform the finished blanket.

The suggested yarn is Yarnsmiths Create DK, which offers a huge range of colors for experimenting with your own palette.

7. Canal Boat Blanket

Pattern designer: Lucy of Attic24

Lucy of Attic24 has a wonderful way of turning everyday inspiration into a crochet story. Her Canal Boat Blanket draws on the brightly painted canal boats she sees on her walks, with their diamonds, stripes, roses, and castles.

I love the way Lucy combines bold colors and makes them feel so cheerful and cohesive. She uses 15 shades of Stylecraft Special DK, and every new stripe feels like another reason to keep crocheting.

8. Mystic Reversible Afghan

Pattern designer: Assia of The Crochet Village

A reversible blanket with no piles of color-change ends to weave in? That definitely got my attention! This free, beginner-friendly pattern pairs a variegated yarn with a coordinating solid, changing colors every two rows. Instead of cutting the yarn each time, you carry it up the side.

I love the idea of watching the variegated shades appear while building a cozy blanket that looks lovely on both sides.

9. Jump in the Line Blanket

Pattern designer: Martin Up North

This is one of the most adventurous designs in the collection! Martin combines Tunisian crochet, mosaic crochet, and entrelac to create a striking geometric blanket.

The diagonal squares are worked and joined as you go and a Tunisian envelope double border cleverly conceals the yarn ends along the sides.

The pattern includes written instructions, charts, and videos to help you learn the technique. The sample uses Scheepjes Stone Washed XL and River Washed XL.

Crochet Blanket Patterns That Make You Say “Just One More Square”

Whether you love granny squares, floral motifs, or little hexagons, there is something so satisfying about finishing one motif and immediately wanting to make another.

10. Festive Memories Blanket

Pattern designer: Marion Mitchell of Wool Thread Paint

Marion’s seventh Christmas blanket brings together favorite details from her previous holiday designs, including hearts, candy cane stripes, holly, and embroidery. Although it looks intricate, Marion describes the stitches as beginner-friendly, with lots of photographs and guidance.

I especially love her reminder that it is perfectly wonderful to crochet a Christmas blanket during the Christmas season rather than rushing to finish it beforehand. What a lovely project to enjoy beside the tree!

11. Terracotta Coastline Hexie Blanket

Pattern designer: Mallory of NautiKrall Crochet

I adore the warm, sun-washed colors in this Terracotta version of the Coastline Hexie Blanket. It is made with 99 little sunburst motifs, each crocheted in a single color. Once the motifs are finished and arranged, Mallory connects them with a continuous join-as-you-go technique, and she has a video tutorial to help.

The Terracotta sample uses a beautiful hand-dyed Hue Loco yarn collection, but you can choose a more budget-friendly yarn for your own version with Wool of the Andes.

12. Woodstock Granny Blanket

Pattern designer: Toni Lipsey of TL Yarn Crafts

Toni is one of my favorite designers, and I love the versatility of her Woodstock Granny Blanket. It uses one granny square motif, five color combinations, and four possible layouts. Simply rearranging the colors and squares can change the whole look!

It is beginner-friendly, and once you get the motif down, you can enjoy making square after square. Toni used Lion Brand Wool-Ease, a worsted-weight wool and acrylic blend.

13. Fae Fleur Blanket

Pattern designer: Tatsiana of Lilla Björn Crochet

This blanket is absolutely breathtaking! It combines floral octagons, squares, and triangles with a richly textured border. Tatsiana used Scheepjes Stone Washed and Stone Washed Flow, whose gradual color changes make each flower look a little different.

Imagine finishing one motif and wanting to make another just to see which colors appear! There are four gorgeous color combinations, and the pattern includes written instructions, photographs, charts, and video tutorials.

14. Cute Black Cat Blanket

Pattern designer: Maryna of Maryna Crochet Design

As a cat mom, I could not resist this adorable blanket! It features black cat faces, silhouettes, and paw prints against pretty pastel backgrounds—and I love the different expressions on those little faces. Unlike the other motif blankets in this section, this one uses intarsia colorwork rather than separately joined granny squares.

The designer notes that it is not intended for beginners, but what a fun project for someone who wants to watch each new kitty appear!

15. Chloe Blanket

Pattern designer: Melissa of Melissa Made That

This one is especially close to my heart because I am making it right now! Months ago, I saw a photograph of the Chloe Blanket, fell in love, and then completely lost track of the pattern. I searched for it over and over without any luck. Then, at a Premier Yarns Meet & Greet in July, I spent a wonderful day chatting with Melissa—without realizing she had designed the very blanket I was looking for! After following her on Instagram, I spotted THE BLANKET and immediately bought the pattern.

I have loved working from Melissa’s beautifully organized instructions, especially her helpful color-changing tips. Choosing my own colors took weeks of experimenting, but I finally settled on off-white, mustard, coral, pinks, and browns for an autumn-inspired palette. I am using Premier Anti-Pilling Everyday Worsted, which feels particularly fitting since Premier is how I met Melissa. There is something lovely about crocheting these fall-colored squares while the leaves outside are changing, too.
