6 Lovable Amigurumi Grandma and Grandpa Patterns

Amigurumi Grandma and Grandpa patterns are so much fun to crochet. You’ll find six adorable projects all with cute little faces and squishy round bodies. They will be sure to bring a smile to your face.

I don’t know about you, but I’m kind of obsessed with amigurumi grandma and grandpa patterns. There’s just something about their quirky little faces and round, squishy bodies that I just love.

While looking for amigurumi grandma and grandpa patterns I found six super cute, absolutely adorable projects and I think you are going to like them too.

The Old Couple Zoe & Zach

This adorable pattern was created by two amazing amigurumi designers, Kurumi Toys and Granny’s Crochet Hook. The minute I saw this adorable little couple, I knew I needed to crochet them.

Zoe and Zach are a seasoned couple with a few years under their belts. They enjoy one another’s company and have earned every gray hair and line on their happy little faces.

This pattern is perfect for an intermediate crocheter or anyone who has experience with amigurumi. The shapes are typical for amigurumi design and works up surprisingly quick.

What’s wonderful is that the pattern includes how to make the eyeglasses with craft wire. That’s such a great skill to learn how to do.

One of the unique things about this pattern is the little bag that Grandma Zoe is carrying. It’s so cute with it’s little embroidered face. Grandma loves carrying her yarn when she’s out and about.

I also love that Grandma’s face is very simply embroidered with two little eyes and a mouth. No finicky safety eyes to worry about.

When embroidering Zoe’s features, I only used two strands of embroidery floss so that it looks clean, but at the same time very visible.

Yarn for Amigurumi Grandma

I used my favorite, tried and true yarn for this project. Berroco Vintage is my go-to wool blend for making amigurumi. It’s so incredibly soft, but has the strength to seam and make magic rings easily without breaking. I am pretty darn tough on my yarns.

I used Berroco Vintage in the colors:

• Mushroom (for the skin)
• Aquae (for the dress)
• Chocolate (for the shoes)
• Butternut (for the coat)
• Mochi (for her hair)

This yarn is my absolute favorite for amigurumi and a little goes a long way. Each skein is 217 yards and lasts me such a long time.

I have it in so many different colors and the soft hues and heathered textures make Berroco Vintage a staple in my yarn stash.

Crochet Hook for Grandma

I’m a big believer in having good tools, especially for amigurumi. So many of you have reached out to me about which amigurumi hook is the best for crocheting toys.

Hands down, Furls Crochet hooks are my favorite, specifically the Odyssey line.

Here are some of the features that make the Furls Odyssey hooks the best for amigurumi (in my humble opinion):

• strong metal hook
• very pointy head for making tight invisible decreases
• ergonomic handle for comfort while crocheting

These are just a few of the reasons I recommend Furls Odyssey crochet hooks, but I’m planning to do a full review of several different hooks very soon.

Ricorumi Crazy Cute Family

Tiny Curl is one of my favorite amigurumi designers and her Ricorumi Crazy Cute Family includes an adorable pair of grandparents. The entire pattern booklet contains eight delightful characters in total. You’ll find patterns for Grandma, Grandpa, Mom, Dad, Baby, Girl, Boy, & Friend.

I seriously love these colorful characters and how much personality they all have.

Imagine crocheting them to look like your very own family members. You can add their unique hair and skin colors, and the number of children or babies in the family.

You could even add more of less stuffing to mimic the weight of your family members. On second thought, maybe that’s a bad idea, a very bad idea. I certainly wouldn’t want an accurate amigurumi doll that symbolized my weight, especially post COVID shut down. (It’s time for a diet, hehe).

Grandma Pattern

Dunaeva Toys is a new amigurumi designer to me. When searching for amigurumi grandma and grandpa patterns I came across her darling design.

I love how Grandma is gripping her sweet little Dachshund by the neck and is carrying her market bag full of yarn.

While looking through her Instagram account I found out that her grandpa pattern is coming soon. Woohoo.

Amigurumi Grandma and Grandpa Pattern – Papi and Mami

Khuc Kay has done it again and designed another adorable pattern.

I’m a big fan of everything she does and this little Grandma and Grandpa are no exception. Their lovable round bodies and happy little faces make me smile. When I think about it, all of her amigurumi patterns do that.

I love that Grandma is wearing a sweet crocheted collar and that Grandpa has on his stylish Flat Cap.

Simple Crochet Grandma and Grandpa Amigurumi

If you’re looking for a beginner friendly Grandma and Grandpa amigurumi pattern, look no further.

This adorable pattern was designed by Jaz Spring. This old fashioned couple remind me of the peg dolls I absolutely love.

Their simple faces and small stature make them the perfect projects for the advanced beginner, who is ready to learn some new skills.

Lula’s Grandpa

I’ve got good news and I’ve got bad news.

I’ll give you the bad news first… the Opa pattern isn’t available yet. The designer, Nour, let me know that it’s going to be a while before he is available.

But, I had to include him. Isn’t he the cutest little guy? Look at his little body hair and teeny tiny knees! I can’t even.

This is another wonderful collaboration with the illustrator Nourillu and amigurumi designer, Granny’s Crochet Hook.
