Sharing is caring!

In this craft tote review, you will find an honest opinion about the Mollie Ollie Caddy. Is it good for crafters? How much yarn will it fit? It is sturdy and well made? Find the answers to all of these questions and get your 10% off coupon before it’s gone.

It’s a known fact that crocheters love craft totes and project bags. And I am no exception to that rule.

We love toting around our projects in cute bags and caddies.

But craft totes can’t just be cute for us serious crocheters and knitters, they must be functional and well made.

What's in my craft tote?

Mollie Ollie Craft Caddy

I’m really impressed with the Mollie Ollie Craft Caddy and let me tell you why.

“Our caddy is made of premium quality heavy-duty felt, reinforced base and enhanced stitching on the handles that can carry up to 50 pounds of weight. “

Size

I love that this is such a study craft tote without being too big. It’s the perfect size to take along when you travel, have appointments, or just need to craft in the car.

But it is also nice for keeping a project organized, if you’re a total homebody like me and plan on never leaving your house again.

The inside has a polyester lining which doesn’t snag on the yarn or your project.

Craft Tote Dividers & Pockets

It also has dividers so that you can keep your supplies separated. But if you need to, you can easily remove them as they are secured with Velcro.

There are also pockets all around the tote for storing supplies. And I especially like the zippered section, which I have stored my notions pouch in.

Handles

The handles are also reinforced so they feel quite strong and although I don’t plan on putting anything heavy in it, it’s nice to know it could handle the weight.

Colors

I want my craft totes and project bags to be well made, but I also want them to look cute too. The Mollie Ollie caddy comes in two different color combinations.

Mine is the teal and rose combo, but they also have a grey and turquoise caddy that is just a pretty.

What’s in My Craft Tote?

Not only am I impressed with the construction of this craft tote, but also the amount of yarn I am able to store in it.

Currently I have nine skeins of the Paintbox Wool Mix Aran skeins. They are 100 grams each, which is no small size. I could fit more, but I also have my current granny square blanket project in it.

As I use up the yarn and the blanket gets bigger there will be plenty of room for both.

Paintbox Wool Mix Aran

Paintbox Wool Mix Aran comes in forty-nine different shades and is a 50/50 wool, acrylic blend. It’s warm as well and easy to care for.

Granny Squares

I am working on a brand new granny square project and I cannot wait to share all the details with you.

Because I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for in a granny square design, I have created my own and when I’m finished I will be sure to share the pattern with you all.

Eeeeeek! I am so excited.

Scrap Project

Recently I organized all of my yarn and I was a little alarmed at how much of the Paintbox Wool Mix Aran I had.

I love this yarn for crocheting amigurumi, but most of the colors I had left were bold and bright, which are not the colors I currently use for toy-making.

As I looked at all the beautiful colors and feeling a bit of sadness that I would likely never use them, I had a burst of inspiration.

I could create a scrap blanket with them.

At first I thought I would remake the Granny Goes Large pattern by Sandra Paul from Cherry Heart, which I shared about here in my post, Crochet & Knitting Therapy.

But the more I looked at them, the more they called to me for something different.

I scoured my books, looked through Pinterest, checked my printed patterns and found nothing that struck my fancy.

That’s when I started combining a little bit of this and a little bit of that and voila…. a granny square was born.

Crochet Hooks

In one of the side pockets I am currently storing my collection of Clover Crochet Hooks. These are sturdy hooks with ergonomic handles which makes crocheting a joy.

Clover Amour Crochet Hook Set, 10 sizes

This set contains 10 different hook sizes from 2.25 mm up to 6 mm.

These are my go-to for granny square making.

I am using the 5 mm, size “H”, for this project and it is perfect with the Aran weight yarn.

Unfortunately, I have lost the smallest size in my collection.

Which means, I am going to destroy my craft room looking for that teeny tiny hook. And I will likely find it three months later hiding in between the couch cushions in my living room.

Notions Pouch

My little pink polka dotted notions pouch fits perfectly in the zipped side section of my craft caddy. And it perfectly matches my Mimmo Caddy from Mollie Ollie.

I am a big fan of adorable notions pouches and I like just having the supplies I need for each individual project.

This one was made by my sweet friend Dawn, from the YouTube channel, Dawn’s Days.

If you don’t know Dawn, you need to. She is a fantastic crafter extraordinaire, but she’s also as down-to-earth as a person can be.

Dawn shares her crafting life while living in beautiful Holland with her family.

  2. Great post. I love the tote so much. I could use something like that next to my chair. Unfortunately, my goldie would use it as a pillow as he does with most of my knitting bags.
How is the family? Everyone staying healthy and warm?

    1. Haha!! It would make great pillow too!! 😂😂😂 We are plugging along slowly and steadily, so I’m counting my blessings right now. 💙🙏💙🙏
